Funke Adesiyan Withdraws From Oyo House of Reps Race

Nollywood actress and politician, Funke Adesiyan, has officially stepped down from her bid to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Ibadan South-East/North-East Federal Constituency in Oyo State.
In a letter dated April 24, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area, Adesiyan confirmed her decision to withdraw from the race. The letter was later shared publicly on her Facebook page.
Explaining her decision, Adesiyan said it followed “careful reflections and high-level consultations,” stressing that her move was deliberate and based on a thoughtful evaluation of the political landscape.
She noted that her withdrawal was guided by her commitment to maintaining credibility, delivering long-term value, and pursuing purposeful service.
The actress-turned-politician also expressed gratitude to her supporters, party members, and stakeholders who backed her ambition across the constituency.
She stated that stepping aside would allow her to redirect her efforts toward contributing to societal development through other strategic means.
Despite exiting the race, Adesiyan reaffirmed her commitment to the progress and development of both Oyo State and Nigeria.
