United States President, Donald Trump, has opened up on why he believes he has been the target of repeated assassination threats.
He made the remarks while reacting to a shooting incident that interrupted a media event in Washington, D.C.
The incident occurred on April 25, 2026, during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton, where a gunman triggered panic among attendees. Security operatives quickly intervened, bringing the situation under control and cutting the event short.
Speaking afterward, Trump suggested that individuals who drive significant change often become targets. He linked the threats against him to the impact of his policies and decisions while in office, noting that not everyone supports the direction he has taken.
He also drew parallels with historical figures who were attacked due to their influence and leadership roles.
The president referenced a previous assassination attempt he survived during a campaign rally in 2024, stating that despite the dangers associated with his position, he remains unfazed.
According to him, he continues to live his life normally and refuses to be intimidated by such threats.
“I’ve studied assassinations,” he said. “The most impactful people — those who achieve the most — are often the ones targeted. I don’t like to say I’m honoured by that, but we’ve made major changes in this country, and not everyone is pleased. Still, I live a fairly normal life despite the risks. I’m not shaken by it.”
