Layi Wasabi Rethinks Dating Approach After Lagos Experience

Popular content creator, Layi Wasabi, has revealed a shift in his perspective on relationships following his experiences in Lagos’ dating scene.
In an earlier interview, the skit maker had expressed a strong preference for skipping casual dating phases. He maintained that he did not believe in having a “girlfriend,” but instead approached relationships with immediate intentions of marriage, insisting he must see “a wife” from the very beginning.
“I don’t believe in the concept of a girlfriend. I believe in partnership. I start with courtship and must see the wife in the person from the start,” he had said at the time.
Reacting to the resurfaced clip on social media platform X, Layi admitted that his views have since changed. According to him, real-life experiences in Lagos made him reconsider that rigid approach, as it proved unrealistic in practice.
In a humorous post, he suggested that the mindset did not serve him well, adding that he no longer pressures himself to view every relationship through the lens of marriage from the outset.
“Lool, na this mentality I use enter Lagos dating pool. Dem wan kill me. Abeg I no dey try see wife in the beginning again o. Thanks,” he wrote.
Layi gained popularity through his comedic skits, often portraying a witty lawyer character while highlighting relatable everyday situations.
