Moyo Ogunlewe Commends Bashir’s Solar Skills Programme for Ikeja Youth Empowerment
The Lagos State Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Hon. Moyo Ogunlewe, has praised Comrade Oluwadamilare Sonayon Adebowale Bashir for introducing a solar energy training initiative aimed at empowering youths in Ikeja.
The programme, described as a multimillion-naira empowerment project, focuses on equipping young people aged 18 to 40 with practical skills in solar installation, maintenance, and system management. It is expected to improve employability and encourage entrepreneurship within Nigeria’s renewable energy sector.
Bashir explained that the initiative will train 100 participants in phases, starting with an initial group of 40. He said the phased structure was designed to ensure effective supervision, quality instruction, and hands-on experience throughout the training.
He added that the programme is intended to reduce youth unemployment while also contributing to solutions for Nigeria’s electricity challenges through clean energy adoption.
“This is not just about training; it is about building a generation of self-reliant youths who can contribute meaningfully to the economy through renewable energy,” Bashir said.
Reacting to the initiative, Ogunlewe described it as timely and impactful, noting that it aligns with broader efforts to promote youth development and economic inclusion in Lagos State. He also emphasized the importance of preparing young people for opportunities in the fast-growing renewable energy industry.
Similarly, the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Moyosore Ogunleye, commended the project, saying it has the potential to reduce unemployment and positively transform communities.
The training programme has already begun generating interest across Ikeja and surrounding areas.
