Sola Giwa has resigned from his position as Special Adviser on Transportation to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as he prepares to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives.
The former aide announced his departure on Wednesday via his official 𝕏 account, revealing that he had stepped down from the role a day earlier.
Giwa served in the Sanwo-Olu administration, contributing to transportation initiatives under the government’s THEMES+ agenda. During his tenure, he was involved in efforts aimed at enhancing Lagos State’s transport system.
In his statement, he expressed gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to serve and for the confidence reposed in him throughout his time in office.
Explaining the reason for his resignation, Giwa said the decision followed extensive consultations and careful consideration. He disclosed that he is now setting his sights on elective office.
He intends to contest for the Lagos Island Federal Constituency II seat in the House of Representatives, with plans to focus on legislative responsibilities and effective representation at the national level.
According to him, the move marks a transition into a new phase of public service, where he hopes to make a meaningful impact through lawmaking and constituency representation.
