President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised the Nigerian Armed Forces for their sustained operations against insurgents, noting that recent military offensives have significantly weakened terrorist groups.
According to the president, coordinated land and air assaults have led to the elimination of several insurgent fighters and key commanders. He described the recent counterattacks by the terrorists as acts of desperation in the face of mounting pressure from troops.
Tinubu also expressed deep sorrow over the loss of soldiers, particularly the death of Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah and others who were killed while defending the nation in Borno State. He extended his condolences to their families, assuring them that the sacrifices of the fallen heroes would never be forgotten.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to ending insecurity, the president said the courage and dedication of troops on the frontlines have strengthened the government’s resolve to defeat terrorism and other forms of violence across the country.
He urged military personnel across all operational theatres to remain steadfast, resilient, and committed to their duty, emphasizing that the government would continue to support them with improved welfare and necessary equipment.
Tinubu also called on Nigerians and the media to rally behind the Armed Forces, discouraging any form of support or glorification of attacks against military personnel. He described the soldiers as irreplaceable national heroes whose sacrifices must be honoured.
The president further extended his sympathies to the government and people of Borno State, pledging continued collaboration to restore lasting peace and security in the region.
