The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-West has urged youths across Ondo State to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party made the appeal following the reopening of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
APC South-West Youth Leader, Daramola Adesuyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.
According to him, the PVC remains essential for citizens willing to participate in the country’s democratic process.
“Beyond just being a voting card, the PVC serves as a powerful instrument of civic engagement and a valid means of identification,” Adesuyi said.
“The primary purpose of the PVC is to grant eligible citizens the right to vote in local and general elections.
“Without a PVC, a citizen cannot cast a vote, regardless of their eligibility or political interest.”
He added that large-scale participation in voter registration was necessary for democracy to thrive.
“Mass voter registration and participation are essential for a healthy democracy, ensuring that the government truly reflects the will of the people,” he said.
Adesuyi also directed APC youth leaders, party members, student groups and stakeholders across the South-West to mobilise eligible voters for the third and final phase of the registration exercise.
According to him, the exercise follows the successful completion of the second phase of the registration programme on April 17, 2026.
He said: “All APC local government youth leaders, party leaders and key stakeholders, student leaders across various campuses, youth groups and all aspirants at all levels are directed to mobilise members to fully participate in the exercise.”
He noted that the Continuous Voter Registration exercise also provides opportunities for new voters, transfer requests and replacement of lost or damaged cards.
Adesuyi said: “The INEC frequently conducts Continuous Voter Registration exercises to enable new voters, especially those who have recently turned 18, to register and obtain PVCs.
“The registration window also allows citizens to transfer their registration to a new location or apply for a replacement if their cards are lost or damaged.”
INEC had earlier announced that the third and final phase of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration exercise would begin on May 11, 2026, and run until July 10, 2026, ahead of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
