Mohbad’s widow says father-in-law wants negative DNA result  + Video

Omowunmi Aloba, widow of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has alleged that her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, wants the DNA test involving her son to return a negative result.

Omowunmi made the claim against her father-in-law when she spoke on an interview programme on Channels Television.

She spoke about the ongoing family dispute surrounding the late singer’s death and paternity controversy involving her son, Liam.

According to her, the conflict between both families began long before Mohbad’s death.

Omowunmi said: “Yeah, we used to be best of friends.

“So I think we fell out, I think it was after I had my child.”

She explained that disagreements surrounding Liam’s naming ceremony and unresolved family tensions escalated the crisis.

Omowunmi said: “It was after I had Liam, because of the naming ceremony issues, and the fact that my husband forgave his mother.

“It was just a family feud that became something very big.”

The late singer’s widow argued that many people wrongly believed the dispute only started after Mohbad’s death.

Omowunmi said: “A lot of people online feel like it’s all about the demise of my husband.

“But in reality, it is because of the family feud that we had before the demise of my husband.”

She further alleged that shortly after Mohbad died, discussions from her father-in-law focused more on the singer’s assets and royalties.

Omowunmi said: “I literally placed a call to him because I was tensed and scared.

“He wasn’t saying what I needed to hear.

“He was just talking about my husband’s property and all of that.”

She also claimed Joseph Aloba wanted the DNA result to disprove Liam’s paternity.

Omowunmi said: “What he actually wants can never happen.

“He actually wants the DNA of my child to be negative.”

Speaking further on the strained relationship, she admitted reconciliation now appeared unlikely.

Omowunmi said: “It has really got to a point that I don’t think this whole family feud can be settled anymore.”

Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27 under controversial circumstances that sparked nationwide outrage and calls for justice.

His death led to protests, multiple investigations, court proceedings and disputes surrounding the paternity of his son and the handling of his estate.

Mohbad’s body was later exhumed for autopsy following public pressure for further investigation.

Joseph Aloba has repeatedly insisted on a DNA test before the singer’s final burial, while Omowunmi has maintained that she has never opposed the test and insists Liam is Mohbad’s biological son.https://www.youtube.com/shorts/6okQh1CCxTg
