NSCDC Arrests Cable Vandals in Lagos’ Amuwo-Odofin Community

The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has recorded another breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on infrastructure vandalism, following the arrest of suspects allegedly damaging armored telecommunications cables in the Amuwo-Odofin area of Lagos State.
The command commended residents of the Amuwo community for their cooperation, intelligence sharing, and support, which it described as crucial to the success of its operations. According to the NSCDC, the achievement stemmed from sustained community engagement initiatives held with key stakeholders across the state during the first and second quarters of 2026.
Acting on credible intelligence provided by members of the community, operatives of the Lagos State Command reportedly apprehended the suspects while they were vandalizing the armored cables in the area.
The command stated that investigations into the incident are ongoing and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure across Lagos State.
The statement was signed by the Lagos State Command Public Relations Officer, SC Oluwaseun Abolurin, on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
