The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, on Friday intensified consultations ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, meeting with party leaders and seeking unity.
Hamzat met Local Government and Local Council Development Area chairmen alongside key APC leaders to strengthen unity and promote inclusive governance across the state.
He also engaged APC women and youth leaders, urging stronger grassroots mobilisation and alignment with the party’s broader vision for Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meetings focused on consolidating unity, deepening mobilisation and ensuring people-centred governance.
Hamzat said: “Today, I also spent time with our APC women and youth leaders from across Lagos State.
“We spoke about the future of our party, but more importantly, the future of Lagos and the kind of state we want our children to inherit.”
He stressed that unity and attention to residents’ needs remained vital to sustaining the state’s progress.
He added: “Lagos moves forward when we stay united and keep the needs of ordinary people at the centre of every decision.
“That remains my commitment.”
Hamzat pledged to continue working toward expanded opportunities for young people, greater inclusion for women, and recognition for all residents.
“To keep working for a Lagos where young people can dream bigger, women have more opportunities to thrive and everyone feels seen and valued,” he stated.
The Deputy Governor acknowledged existing challenges, but expressed confidence that collective effort would drive further development.
“There is still work ahead, but together, we can build an even greater Lagos for everyone,” Hamzat said.
NAN also reports that APC gubernatorial primaries are scheduled for May 21 under the party’s timetable for the 2027 elections.
