President Bola Tinubu has extended a formal invitation to Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya for a state visit to Nigeria following a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Africa CEO Forum in Kigali.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Sunday Dare, disclosed this while briefing journalists after Thursday’s engagements.
According to Dare, both leaders discussed strengthening economic cooperation, particularly in Guinea’s mineral and metals sector.
He said Doumbouya received Tinubu’s invitation warmly and was expected to visit Abuja soon.
Dare said: “The President had a fruitful meeting, and you know Guinea is in debt to our president; he got some very good advice.
“Very soon, on the invitation of President Tinubu, he is likely to visit Nigeria.”
He explained that the discussions also focused on investment and partnership opportunities between both countries.
Dare said: “Guinea has a lot of potential, metals, minerals, and so on.
“The opening for partnership between Nigeria and Guinea has been opened.
“The possibilities are great, and I’m sure we will see that develop in the days and years ahead.”
Doumbouya recently won Guinea’s presidential election with 86.2 per cent of the vote and is currently overseeing the country’s transition to civilian democratic rule.
Guinea is also expected to hold parliamentary elections within the next two weeks.
The West African nation is regarded as one of Africa’s most mineral-rich countries, with the world’s largest reserves of bauxite alongside major deposits of iron ore, gold and diamonds.
