NSCDC Raids Illegal Detention Centre in Lagos, Rescues 24 Victims and Arrests Four Foreign Nationals

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has uncovered and shut down an illegal detention facility operating in Lagos State, rescuing 24 victims and arresting four foreign nationals allegedly linked to the operation.

The successful operation was carried out following credible intelligence received by security operatives regarding suspicious activities at the facility. Acting on the information, NSCDC personnel stormed the location and discovered several individuals being unlawfully held under harsh and inhumane conditions.

According to the agency, a total of 24 victims were rescued during the raid. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims had been confined against their will, with some allegedly subjected to various forms of abuse and deprivation.

Four foreign nationals suspected to be responsible for running the illegal detention camp were arrested at the scene. Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities or nationalities of the suspects, pending the conclusion of ongoing investigations.

NSCDC officials stated that the operation forms part of the corps’ commitment to protecting vulnerable persons and dismantling criminal networks involved in human trafficking, illegal detention, exploitation, and related offences.

The rescued victims have been taken to a secure location where they are receiving medical attention, psychological support, and other forms of assistance. Relevant government agencies and humanitarian organizations have also been engaged to ensure their rehabilitation and reintegration into society.

Speaking on the development, NSCDC authorities reaffirmed their determination to rid the country of criminal elements operating unlawful facilities under the guise of rehabilitation centres, religious institutions, or other organizations. The agency warned individuals involved in such illegal activities that security agencies would continue to track and prosecute offenders.

Investigators are currently working to determine the full extent of the operation, identify possible accomplices, and establish whether additional victims may have been affected.

The NSCDC urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities in their communities, stressing that public cooperation remains vital in the fight against human rights abuses, trafficking, and other criminal activities.

The arrested suspects are expected to face prosecution upon the conclusion of investigations, while efforts continue to ensure justice for the rescued victims.
