Ifa Oracle Urges Peaceful, Credible Governorship Poll In Osun

The President of the Traditional Religion Worshippers Association of Osun State (TRAWSO), Dr. Oluseyi Atanda, has called on political stakeholders and residents across the state to work towards a peaceful, free and fair governorship election on August 15.
Speaking with journalists at the TRAWSO State Secretariat in Osogbo on Tuesday, Atanda said the appeal followed a consultation held by Ifa priests, during which spiritual guidance was sought ahead of the poll.
According to him, the consultation stressed the need for governorship candidates to steer clear of do-or-die politics and urged all political actors in the state to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the electioneering period.
He said the message from the priests also encouraged politicians to place the development of Osun above personal ambition, to act responsibly, and to weigh the consequences of their actions on the wider society.
Atanda called on every stakeholder, politicians, traditional institutions and residents alike, to play an active part in ensuring that the electoral process remains peaceful and credible from start to finish.
He further disclosed that the consultation expressed optimism about the state’s future, describing the incoming governor as one who would govern with patience and tolerance, and who would be able to accommodate views different from his own.
Atanda added that the consultation urged residents of Osun to remain hopeful and to keep praying for an election devoid of violence.
