Pro-Israel activists were sent spinning into rage after children’s entertainer Ms. Rachel suggested that funding the Israeli military would be immoral due to the genocide in Gaza.
The outburst is the latest against Ms. Rachel, who has become a leading advocate for the safety of children in Palestine and other parts of the world devastated by war.
“It’s not Christian to vote to fund Israel’s military when they are committing genocide,” Ms Rachel, real name Rachel Accurso, wrote on Threads.
“It’s Christian to help the poor, help the sick and love your neighbor,” she continued.
The post drew the ire of pro-Israel social media accounts, who accused the popular YouTuber of antisemitism.
“Rachel Accurso, the Netflix star known to millions of toddlers as Ms. Rachel, escalated her bigoted campaign against Jews and Israel on Sunday by invoking Jesus to condemn American support for the Jewish state,” wrote Kevin Deutsch, author of the After October 7 blog.
“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: this woman is evil,” replied X user Tali Goldsheft.
However, many more social media users came to Ms Rachel’s defence, highlighting the absurdity of the situation.
“Apparently Miss Rachel is “evil” for not wanting to fund the bombing of kids in Gaza and saying Jesus was about love, not war. These people have lost the plot,” journalist Mehdi Hasan wrote in response to Goldsheft’s post.
“You’re mad at her cuz she wants kids to live?” said another social media user.
Ms Rachel, who has over 20 million followers on YouTube, has been frequently targeted by pro-Israel activists in recent years over her opposition to Israel’s war on Gaza.
Last month, she used her platform to call for the release of Gaza paediatrician Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, who has been held by Israel for more than 500 days.
The children’s educator has also filmed collaborations with Palestinians from Gaza, including children wounded by Israel’s onslaught.
The videos also drew scorn from pro-Israel social media users, who accused Ms Rachel of spreading “blood libels” about Jews.
In 2025, the pro-Israel Stop Antisemitism group labelled Ms. Rachel among their top ten nominees for ‘Antisemite of the Year’ over her Gaza advocacy.
