Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have arrested a suspected foreign terrorist fighter, an alleged illegal immigrant and six suspected terrorist logistics suppliers during separate intelligence-led operations in Borno State.
The Acting Media Information Officer of the Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed the arrests in a statement issued on Monday in Maiduguri.
According to the statement, troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion, Sector 4 OPHK, carried out an operation on July 19, 2026, in Lassa, within the Dille General Area of Askira/Uba Local Government Area, where they apprehended 32-year-old Musa Fashir, a Sudanese national suspected of being a foreign terrorist fighter and collaborator.
Preliminary intelligence indicated that the suspect may have links to terrorist groups operating in the North-East.
During the same operation, troops also arrested 36-year-old Mary Florence, who claimed to be an illegal immigrant from Ghana. Military authorities said investigations are ongoing to verify her identity, determine the circumstances surrounding her presence in the area and establish whether she has any connection to criminal or terrorist networks.
Both suspects are currently in military custody undergoing profiling and interrogation as investigators seek to determine the extent of their activities and possible links to terrorist organisations.
In a separate operation, troops of Sector 1 OPHK dismantled a suspected terrorist logistics network, arresting six individuals believed to be supplying materials to terrorist groups operating in the region.
The suspects were intercepted while travelling in five vehicles along a route believed to be used for transporting logistics to terrorist camps.
Security operatives recovered 202 cartons of herbicides, one jerrycan containing suspected acid, a Starlink satellite internet communication system, six bags of NPK fertilizer, 10 bags of rice, 50 hoes and 20 packs of knapsack sprayer pumps.
Captain Goni said technical experts would subject some of the recovered items, particularly the fertilizer and suspected acid, to forensic analysis to determine whether they could be used in the manufacture of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The six suspects and all recovered items have been handed over to the appropriate Military Intelligence Regiment for further investigation aimed at uncovering other members of the suspected logistics network and identifying its sponsors.
The military noted that ongoing counter-terrorism operations have continued to disrupt terrorist supply chains, limiting access to food, communication equipment, medical supplies and other essential resources.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations against terrorists, their financiers, logistics suppliers, informants and collaborators to further weaken insurgent activities across the North-East.
The military also appealed to residents to continue providing credible intelligence on suspicious persons and activities, stressing that public cooperation remains vital to restoring lasting peace and security in the region.
