Hon. Abayomi Hunye has said he is prepared to face Senator Solomon Adeola in court over allegations concerning the senator’s ancestral origin.
Hunye’s position was contained in a statement issued on September 15, 2026, and signed by his Media Adviser, Femi Oyewale. The statement followed a warning by Chief Kayode Odunaro, media adviser to Senator Adeola, that legal action would be taken over Hunye’s earlier comments regarding Adeola’s alleged origin.
Hunye said he welcomed the proposed lawsuit, maintaining that the court was the appropriate place to establish the facts surrounding the matter.
He described the 24-hour ultimatum issued by Adeola’s camp as a political tactic aimed at discouraging opposing voices and diverting attention from questions surrounding the senator’s eligibility to govern Ogun State.
According to Hunye, the question of a political candidate’s origin and eligibility is a matter of public interest because of its constitutional implications. He maintained that the allegations could be tested through the legal process rather than through media exchanges.
Hunye also challenged Adeola to proceed with the lawsuit without further delay, saying he was prepared to present what he described as verifiable facts and documentary evidence concerning the allegation of Ekiti ancestry.
He said he would not be intimidated by threats of legal action and urged residents of Ogun State, particularly those in Ogun West, to remain calm while the issue is addressed through the appropriate channels.
Hunye added that the forthcoming legal process, if initiated, would provide an opportunity for both sides to present their claims and evidence before a competent court.
