IGP Disu Orders Police Commands Nationwide to List Officers With PhDs, Master’s, Law Degrees

The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has ordered all commands and formations of the Nigeria Police Force to submit a comprehensive list of serving inspectors and rank-and-file officers holding Doctorate degrees, Master’s degrees, or Bachelor of Laws (LLB) qualifications.

The directive, contained in a police wireless message dated September 14, 2026, and marked “Most/Immediate,” was issued from the Office of the Force Secretary in Abuja. It instructed all departments, police colleges, training institutions, and state commands to submit the requested details by Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

The message read in part: “IGP directs, as a matter of urgency, that you forward a list of inspectors/rank-and-file serving under you who are holders of doctorate degrees, master’s degrees or LLB, in addition to their posting signals, on or before 16/09/2026. I repeat, on or before 16/09/2026. Treat as very important.”

The directive was addressed to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, the Department of Training and Development, police colleges, all police departments and training institutions, and all state commands. It was also copied to the Office of the Inspector-General of Police and all Commissioners of Police.

Police authorities specifically requested details of inspector and rank-and-file personnel holding the listed academic qualifications, alongside their current posting signals, and classified the exercise as urgent.
