Jigawa 2027: PDP unveils 45-member campaign council

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State has constituted a 45-member campaign council ahead of the 2027 governorship election, appointing its candidate, Alhaji Mustapha Sule Lamido, as chairman.
Lamido announced the council in a statement issued in Dutse, the state capital, on Friday night.
He said the team would coordinate the party’s mobilisation across the state’s 27 local government areas.
“I am pleased to announce the composition of the Jigawa State PDP 2027 Campaign Council to lead our mobilisation and engagement across the 27 local government areas,” Lamido said.
Inuwa Tahir was named deputy chairman, while Senator Mustapha Khabeeb will serve as Vice Chairman I for Jigawa Central.
Ambassador Ibrahim Kazaure was appointed Vice Chairman II for the North-West, while Yusuf Dunari will serve as Vice Chairman III for the North-East.
Other members include former Inspector-General of Police Suleiman Abba, Dr Nuraddeen Mohammed, former deputy governorship candidate Babandi Gumel, Dr Aminu Taura and Professor Mustapha Jarumi.
The council also includes serving and former lawmakers, party leaders and other stakeholders, including Isah Zakari Bosuwa, Idris Alhaji Garba Kareka, Ali Idris Diginsa and Nasir Umar Roni.
Lamido said members of the State Working Committee and grassroots mobilisers were also included to broaden the party’s reach across the state.
He also announced a campaign directorate to handle the day-to-day running of the campaign.
Shehu Liman Wan was appointed Director-General, while Nasir Mohammed will serve as secretary.
Nuraddeen Muhammad was named Director of Strategy and Mobilisation, with Abba taking charge of the Directorate of Security.
Aminu Abubakar was appointed Director of Finance, Umar Kyari will oversee Media and Publicity, while Umar Birniwa will head Planning, Research, Organisation and Documentation.
Fahad Hashim was named Director of Youth and Support Groups, while Murja Garki will oversee Women Mobilisation.
Lamido expressed confidence in the ability of the team to lead the PDP to victory in the 2027 election.
The PDP candidate was affirmed as the party’s governorship candidate in May after emerging as the sole aspirant for the ticket.
