Ogun PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate Receives Blessings at Maulud, Gets Qadriyyah Title
Hajia (Dr.) Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deputy governorship candidate in Ogun State, has received prayers and blessings for her political journey at the 60th anniversary of the Olohungbo Maulud Nabiyy celebration in Abeokuta.
The annual Qadriyyah Sufi gathering attracted thousands of Muslim faithful from different parts of Nigeria and other countries to Ogun State for the all-night religious programme.
The event was led by Sheikh Qaribullah Nasir Kabara, who attended the celebration in person alongside a delegation of prominent Sheikhs from Kano.
During the gathering, Sheikh Kabara, alongside other Islamic scholars and Imams, prayed for Kolapo’s success in her political aspirations and described her as a Muslim worthy of emulation.
The leader of the Qadriyyah Sufi movement in Ogun State, Sheikh Abdul Azeez Olohungbo, also offered prayers for Kolapo and her principal, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, as they pursue their political ambitions.
In recognition of her role and contributions within the Muslim community, Sheikh Olohungbo announced the conferment of the title Iya Adinni Qadriyyah of Ogun State on Kolapo.
Kolapo, who is the Iya Sunnah of Egbaland and Ameerah General of Ogun State, also holds the title of Zeenatul Qadriyyah of Nigeria.
