Royal Exchange Rebounds With 10% Gain to Lead NGX Gainers

Royal Exchange Plc rebounded strongly on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Monday after its share price surged 10.00 percent to the daily price limit, emerging as one of the session’s top-performing stocks as buying interest returned to selected equities.
The insurer’s share price rose from N0.90 to N0.99, placing it alongside NGX Group Plc at the top of the gainers’ chart and marking a sharp turnaround from the previous week’s weakness.
Top Gainers
| Company | Previous Close | Current Price | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Royal Exchange Plc | N0.90 | N0.99 | 10.00% |
| NGX Group Plc | N148.00 | N162.80 | 10.00% |

Royal Exchange’s advance came after a difficult previous week in which the stock ranked among the Exchange’s biggest losers, underscoring renewed investor appetite for selected insurance and financial stocks at the start of the new trading week.
The broader market also closed in positive territory.
The NGX All-Share Index (ASI) gained 0.10 percent to close at 243,299.24 points, while equity market capitalisation increased by approximately N160.26 billion to N157.747 trillion.
Trading activity was mixed.
Investors traded 428.97 million shares worth N20.52 billion in 54,592 deals. While trading volume and value declined from the previous session, the number of deals increased, reflecting continued investor participation across the market.
Despite the market’s modest gain, profit-taking persisted in some counters. John Holt Plc led the losers with a 10.00 percent decline, while Ellah Lakes Plc, DAAR Communications Plc, Regal Insurance Plc and Learn Africa Plc also recorded notable losses.
Royal Exchange’s rebound to the daily price limit made it one of the standout performers of Monday’s session, highlighting the return of selective buying as investors repositioned following last week’s broad-based market selloff.
