Strike: We’re awaiting full implementation of agreement with Ondo – ASUU-AAUA
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (ASUU-AAUA) Branch, says it will continue with the ongoing strike until the full implementation of the agreements reached with the Ondo State Government.
The Chairman of the branch, Prof. Boluwaji Oshodi, made this known in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Akure.
NAN reports that academic and non-academic unions in the three state-owned universities are currently on a total and indefinite strike over unpaid allowances to members.
The state government in a statement on Monday said it had reached an agreement with the striking unions to fully implement the FG/Union agreement.
The chairman of ASUU-AAUA, however, confirmed that an agreement had been reached between the state government and the union leadership.
Oshodi explained that while the approval of the FGN-Union agreement was a welcome development, the union was awaiting concrete implementation before suspending its ongoing strike.
“The state government and the union have reached an agreement on the implementation of the FGN-Union agreement.
“However, we are still waiting for the implementation. That is when the strike will be called off,” Oshodi told NAN.
