APC Names Wike, Adeleke, Soludo In Tinubu’s 2027 Campaign Council

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has included Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike; Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke; and Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, in its expanded presidential campaign council for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The revised list brings together politicians from different political parties to support Tinubu’s campaign ahead of the next presidential election.
President Tinubu is scheduled to inaugurate the campaign council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.
Under the new arrangement, Wike will coordinate campaign activities in Rivers State and the FCT, while Soludo and Adeleke will oversee the campaign in Anambra and Osun states, respectively.
Wike remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while Soludo belongs to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Adeleke, who secured re-election as Osun State governor on August 16, contested under the Accord Party.
The appointments have further expanded the APC’s campaign structure beyond members of the ruling party.
Oyetola, Akpabio, Abbas Get New Roles
The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has been appointed Deputy National Coordinator I, responsible for stakeholder mobilisation in the South-West.
The revised list also changes several leadership positions in the campaign council initially announced on August 22.
Former Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, was named Director-General in the original arrangement. Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were initially appointed deputy directors-general.
However, under the revised structure, Akpabio, Abbas and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq have been appointed Deputy Vice-Chairmen I, II and III, respectively.
Buni will serve as Deputy Director-General I for the North, while Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin has been appointed Deputy Director-General II for the region.
Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu will serve as Deputy Directors-General I and II for the South, respectively.
APC Governors to Coordinate Campaigns in Their States
The updated campaign structure names all 32 APC governors as coordinators of Tinubu’s re-election campaign in their respective states.
In states where the party does not control the government, selected APC candidates have been assigned coordination responsibilities.
In Oyo State, the party’s governorship candidate, Sharafadeen Alli, will coordinate the campaign. Mohammed Abubakar, the APC governorship candidate in Bauchi State, and Chijioke Chukwu, the party’s flagbearer in Abia State, have also been given similar responsibilities.
The council is expected to coordinate political mobilisation, stakeholder engagement and other campaign activities across the country as the party prepares for the 2027 general election.
Prominent Political Figures Named as Advisers
The campaign council also features 14 advisers, including prominent politicians and government officials.
Those listed include former Osun State Governor Bisi Akande, former Ogun State Governor Segun Osoba, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, former senator Florence Ita-Giwa and former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
Others are former APC National Secretary Iyiola Omisore and former Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun.
Their inclusion is expected to strengthen the campaign council’s engagement with political stakeholders and party structures across the country.
2027 Presidential Campaign Gathers Momentum
The expansion of the APC campaign council comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general election.
According to the revised timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections commenced on August 19 and are scheduled to end on January 14, 2027.
Tinubu is expected to face other presidential contenders, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The APC’s revised campaign structure is aimed at coordinating the president’s re-election efforts nationwide, with governors, lawmakers, party leaders and other political figures assigned responsibilities across the country.
