Ex-APC Women Leader Found With Throat Slit In Bauchi

A former All Progressives Congress (APC) women leader in Bauchi South, Jemimah Dutse, has been found dead with her throat slit inside her residence in the Yelwa area of Bauchi State.
Dutse’s lifeless body was discovered in a pool of blood at her residence in Muazu New Layout, Yelwa, on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
The Bauchi State Police Command said the circumstances surrounding her death were being investigated as a suspected murder.
According to the police, a 49-year-old man from Muazu New Layout reported the discovery at the ‘E’ Division of the command at about 2:07pm.
The police said detectives who responded to the report immediately visited the residence, documented the scene and evacuated the deceased’s body to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, for medical examination and autopsy.
The command said the identity of the person or persons responsible for the killing had yet to be established.
Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, directed the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case.
The police said the homicide detectives had been mandated to conduct a discreet and thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding Dutse’s death and identify those responsible.
The command also expressed condolences to the deceased’s family, friends and political associates, assuring the public that it would pursue the case to its logical conclusion.
The police urged members of the public with useful information that could assist the investigation to make it available to the appropriate authorities.
The command said further developments would be made public as the investigation progresses.
