Family seeks help as mother allegedly drains retirement savings on Pastor’s ‘seed offerings’

A family has expressed concern over their elderly mother’s growing involvement with a local church, alleging that a pastor has been pressuring her to make financial offerings in exchange for miracles, healing and spiritual protection.

According to a post seeking advice, the woman has spent much of the past year giving money to the pastor, depleting her pension savings, selling some of her jewellery and asking her children for loans to fund the offerings.

The situation reportedly worsened when her children tried to caution her about the financial demands, describing the pastor as a “Temu prophet” and expressing fears that she was being manipulated.

However, their mother allegedly reacted angrily, quoting Bible scriptures and accusing them of opposing the work of a “Man of God.”

The family said they were worried that she was sacrificing her financial security in retirement to meet the pastor’s demands, describing him as a “lemenemene” (trickster).

Seeking advice on how to handle the situation, the family asked how they could help protect an elderly parent from what they believe is a manipulative religious group without further damaging their relationship with her.
