Former DIG Frank Mba Opens Law Firm After 34 Years in Police Service

Retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Frank Mba, has begun a new career in legal practice with the opening of his law firm, FRANK MBA LEGAL, in Abuja, months after retiring from the Nigeria Police Force.
The law firm was officially unveiled on Friday, October 9, 2026, at its office in Wuse 2, Abuja. The event attracted prominent government officials, serving and retired police officers, members of the National Assembly and other dignitaries.
Among those present were the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; former Inspectors-General of Police, Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar and Usman Alkali Baba; and retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Sadiq Abubakar.
Other dignitaries included retired DIGs Tijani Baba and Dan Kwara, as well as serving DIGs Ekene Onwuemeelie, Isiyaku Abubakar and Suleiman Mohammed.
Speaking at the unveiling, Mba explained that the establishment of the law firm was part of his determination to continue contributing to society by combining his experience in policing, legal education and public service.
According to him, retirement does not mean the end of service but provides an opportunity to serve in a different capacity.
“Retirement is not the end of service; it is an opportunity to serve in a different capacity,” he said.
The former police chief stated that he intends to apply the knowledge and experience he acquired during his years in the police to protecting people’s rights, resolving disputes and promoting the administration of justice.
He added that his background in leadership and conflict management would help him contribute meaningfully to the legal profession and the wider society.
Mba retired from the Nigeria Police Force in March 2026 after serving for 34 years in various capacities.
During his career, he served as the Force Public Relations Officer on three occasions and also held the position of Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State, where he was involved in communicating police activities and managing public relations.
He later served as Commissioner of Police in Ogun State before joining the police management team responsible for the Department of Training and Development, where he contributed to the professional development of police personnel.
Beyond his policing career, Mba has a strong academic background in law, which prepared him for his transition into private legal practice.
He obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Lagos, attended the Nigerian Law School and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002.
He subsequently earned a Master of Laws degree with distinction from the University of Dundee in Scotland, further strengthening his legal qualifications.
Mba also served as a member of the Nigerian Police contingent deployed to the United Nations Mission in Liberia between 2006 and 2007. His service during the international peacekeeping mission earned him a United Nations Medal.
With the opening of FRANK MBA LEGAL, the retired police officer is moving into a new phase of his professional life, drawing on decades of experience in law enforcement, leadership and legal training to pursue his career in the legal sector.
