Gunmen Demand N50m Ransom For Abducted Nasarawa Teacher

Gunmen have demanded N50m ransom for the release of a primary school teacher, Amina Hussaini, abducted from her residence in Kuru community, Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Hussaini, who teaches at an LEA Primary School in the community, was abducted on Tuesday while her husband was away on an assignment in Lafia, the state capital.

Her sister, Suwaiba Abdullahi, confirmed the incident to our reporter by telephone on Thursday, saying the family was struggling to raise the amount demanded by the kidnappers.

According to her, the abductors contacted the family after the incident and insisted on N50m for the teacher’s release.

Abdullahi said efforts by a family member to negotiate a reduction in the ransom failed after the kidnappers abruptly ended the call.

She added that the family had been thrown into confusion and was appealing to members of the public for financial assistance to secure Hussaini’s release.

The victim remains in captivity, while the incident has been reported to the police.

Abdullahi appealed to security agencies, the Nasarawa State Government and well-meaning Nigerians to intervene and ensure her sister’s safe and unconditional release.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Nasarawa State Police Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, said he had seen reports of the abduction on social media and would make enquiries before providing further information.
