Several people are feared dead following the reported crash of a helicopter in Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Monday.
The incident reportedly occurred in the coastal community, triggering panic among residents as efforts were being made to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Details about the helicopter, including its operator, the number of people on board and the exact location of the crash, were not immediately available as of press time.
A community leader, who confirmed the incident, said residents were still trying to establish the precise location of the crash and other details.
According to him, “Yes, it is true. A helicopter crashed at Igbokoda, Ondo State, but we don’t know the exact place and other details.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, said he was unaware of the incident when contacted.
As of press time, there was no official confirmation of the number of casualties or the identity of the helicopter involved.
