Lagos Hoodlums Block Army Officer’s Car, Cart Away N300,000

Hoodlums allegedly blocked the vehicle of a Nigerian Army officer and his family, assaulted them and dispossessed them of N300,000 in Itire, Lagos.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, disclosed this during a press briefing on notable operational successes recorded by the Command in October 2026.
The incident occurred on October 4, when a group of hoodlums allegedly blocked the officer’s vehicle, assaulted him and his wife, took N300,000 and vandalised the vehicle.
Police operatives subsequently arrested Muhammad Garuba Alabi, identified as an alleged gang leader, in connection with the incident.
The police said the suspect has reportedly confessed to the offence, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang. Investigation is ongoing.
THE WHISTLER reports that in August, the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad arrested suspected miscreants and hoodlums allegedly terrorising motorists along the Lekki–Ajah Expressway during a midnight enforcement operation targeting criminal elements operating along the corridor.
The operation came months after about 25 persons accused of harassing motorists along the same corridor were arrested in March.
The suspects, described as “Omotaku”, were apprehended during an evening patrol by enforcement teams monitoring activities along major corridors in the area.
