‘Obi Is a Packaged Fraud’ – Sowore Recalls Doctors’ Strike Under His Gov’t

The 2027 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has described former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi as a “packaged fraud” who failed to improve healthcare services during his eight years in office.

Sowore alleged that the longest recorded doctors’ strike in human history took place in Anambra State during Obi’s administration.

He questioned the former governor’s claims and promises to establish primary healthcare facilities in every ward if elected president.

The activist and politician made the allegations in a post on his X handle on Friday, October 30, while criticising Obi and his supporters over what he described as attempts to mislead Nigerians about the former governor’s record in office.

“Don’t let hypocrites and liars gaslight you! The longest recorded doctors’ strike in human history took place in Anambra State during the wicked regime of @PeterObi,” Sowore wrote.

He questioned Obi’s promise to establish primary healthcare facilities across the country, arguing that the former governor had failed to prioritise hospital development during his eight-year administration in Anambra State.

“The packaged fraud and his minions now tell you he will establish primary healthcare facilities in every ward, but during his eight years as governor, instead of building hospitals, he converted state funds into dollars and stashed them in banks where he held shares and financial interests,” he alleged.

He also urged Nigerians not to support politicians whom he accused of presenting a different image to the public from their actual records in government.

“Never vote for wolves in sheep’s clothing!” he added.

The latest criticism is not the first time Sowore has attacked Obi, who is seeking to contest the 2027 presidential election.

In September 2026, Sowore alleged that Obi’s former running mate in the 2023 presidential election, Datti Baba-Ahmed, knew the former Anambra governor was a “packaged fraud” when they contested together under the Labour Party.

Reacting to comments attributed to Datti that Obi, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and other politicians could not provide solutions to Nigeria’s problems, Sowore claimed that Datti’s remarks confirmed what he had previously said about Obi.

“He knew Peter Obi, whom he deputized, was a packaged fraud. That needs no repeating, he just revealed what he knew up close,” Sowore wrote at the time.

He also recalled the 2023 presidential election Peace Accord signing, claiming that he sat beside Datti and watched him show support for President Bola Tinubu.

“I sat next to Datti in 2023 at the Peace Accord signing and watched him fawning over Tinubu,” he stated.

Sowore further claimed that he had raised concerns about Obi and Datti’s political relationship at the time, but their supporters dismissed his allegations.

Meanwhile, Obi and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, recently featured in a political controversy in Enugu State after the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) alleged that the management of Amadeo Event Centre withdrew permission for the party to use its facility for a scheduled town hall meeting.

The party had planned to hold the meeting on Thursday, October 29, at 2pm, with Obi and Kwankwaso expected to address residents of the state.

The NDC alleged that the venue was withdrawn less than 24 hours before the event despite claims that payment had been made weeks earlier. It further alleged that the event centre’s owner, Pastor Ugo Chime, told party officials he was under pressure from the state government not to provide the facility.

However, Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah denied involvement in the decision, describing the allegation that he ordered the venue’s withdrawal as “preposterous and utter falsehood.”

“My attention has just been drawn to a video circulating on some social media platforms, alleging that I gave an order denying a political party use of a private facility for their townhall event. This is preposterous and utter falsehood, because I did not,” Mbah wrote on X.

The governor also accused the opposition of making allegations to attract public attention, warning that freedom of expression should not be used as an excuse for defamation.
