Police Launch Manhunt As Gunmen Abduct Three Cocoa Research Institute Staff In Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for suspected kidnappers who abducted three staff members of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria in Ibadan.
The police confirmed the incident on Friday, saying efforts were ongoing to rescue the victims and apprehend those responsible for the abduction.
The victims were reportedly kidnapped while inspecting crops on a farm within the institute’s premises in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Ibadan, adding that security operatives had commenced operations to secure the victims’ release.
“The Oyo State Police Command confirms a kidnapping incident involving three staff members of the CRIN, who were abducted while inspecting crops on a farm within the institute’s premises,” Ayanlade said.
He explained that the command swung into action immediately after receiving information about the incident.
“Upon receiving the report, the command immediately commenced intensive efforts to secure the safe rescue of the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
“A manhunt has been launched, and operational efforts are ongoing to ensure the victims’ safe return and bring those responsible to justice,” the police spokesman stated.
The command assured residents that it was deploying the necessary resources to resolve the situation, while appealing to members of the public to provide useful information that could assist the ongoing operation.
Ayanlade urged anyone with credible information about the abduction to report to the nearest police station or contact the command through its established emergency channels.
As of the time of filing this report, the police had not disclosed the identities of the abducted workers, the circumstances surrounding the suspected kidnappers’ entry into the institute’s premises or whether any contact had been established with the abductors.
