Ruth Kadiri raises alarm over fake products in Nigeria, calls on NAFDAC to take swift action

Nollywood actress Ruth Kadiri has raised concerns over the circulation of fake and harmful products in Nigeria, calling on the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to pay closer attention to the issue.

Taking to her Instagram page, the actress expressed her concerns in a video message to Nigerians, warning that poorly produced and contaminated products could pose serious risks to people’s health.

She noted that people often purchase products believing they are safe, only to discover that they could be harmful. She also expressed concern about the impact of fake medications on sick people who rely on pharmacies for treatment.

“Every day, we buy different products believing they are safe, but sadly, some are poorly produced, contaminated, harmful and mostly fake. This is a threat to human life,” she said.

Kadiri also raised concerns about children allegedly suffering kidney failure as a result of fake products, while sharing her personal experience after purchasing garlic that reportedly changed colour after she blended it.

She urged Nigerians to speak up whenever they notice fake products being produced or sold in their communities, stressing that the issue requires collective action.

“It’s not just a buying problem, it is a we problem. Most of these products are produced in our country by our people, destroying the lives and health of our people, regardless of what they have to lose as long as they make money,” she added.

The actress encouraged Nigerians not to ignore the issue, warning that anyone could become a victim. She also appealed to NAFDAC to take action to protect the lives and health of Nigerians.
