Supreme Council For Sharia Secretary General Nafiu Ahmed Dies

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria (SCSN), Mallam Nafiu Baba-Ahmed, Esq., is dead.

His death was announced on Tuesday by former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy and 2026 Gombe State PDP governorship candidate, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, in a post on his verified social media handle.

Pantami said the funeral prayer for the late SCSN secretary-general would be held at the National Mosque, Abuja, immediately after the Zuhr prayer on Tuesday.

The cause of death was not disclosed.

Pantami described Baba-Ahmed as a dedicated Islamic advocate who spent the last 26 years of his life serving Islam and humanity and advocating justice for all.

“With heavy hearts but with total submission to the will of Allah, we mourn the passing of Mallam Nafiu Baba-Ahmed, Esq., who served as the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria (SCSN),” Pantami wrote.

He prayed for Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings and grant him Aljannah Firdaus, while also praying for strength for his family, colleagues and the wider Muslim community to bear the loss.
