Three Months After Man’s Murder, Bauchi Police Arrest Suspected Killer

Three months after 46-year-old Rilwanu Dauda was allegedly stabbed to death in Karofin Madaki, Bauchi State, police have arrested the principal suspect linked to his murder.
The Bauchi State Police Command said the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Abdulrazak Sale Kundang, was arrested on Monday, October 5, 2026, following a tip-off from a Good Samaritan.
Dauda was reportedly attacked on July 5 at about 9:30am by Sale, also known as “Abba Sale Police,” and members of his gang.
He was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, where a doctor confirmed him dead at about 11am on the same day.
According to the police, the suspects fled after the attack, prompting the command to place them on its watchlist and launch a manhunt for them.
The command said the suspects had also previously been linked to a politically motivated murder in the same area before disappearing.
Three months after Dauda’s death, operatives of the ‘A’ Division, Township, acting on credible intelligence, tracked down and arrested Kundang on October 5.
The police said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the other suspects allegedly involved in the killing, who remain at large.
The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the operatives for their persistence and professionalism.
Aliyu directed that the case be thoroughly investigated and the suspect charged to court, while warning criminals that they would not have a hiding place in the state.
The police said the arrest marked a major breakthrough in the investigation into Dauda’s killing.
