Nigerians can now download their National Identification Number (NIN) slips directly to their mobile phones without visiting National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) offices or paying third-party agents.
The commission has explained how NIN holders can access and download the official document free of charge through its NINAuth mobile application.
In a video shared on its official X account on Wednesday, NIMC demonstrated the process, showing users how to complete the required identity verification and save their NIN slips on their phones.
The initiative is expected to make access to the document easier, particularly for Nigerians who need their NIN slips for banking transactions, government services, telecommunications registration and other identity-related processes.
According to the commission, the entire process can be completed within a few minutes by following a series of steps on the application.

The application will generate the official document, which you can save directly to your mobile phone.
NIMC explained that successful verification is required before users can access the download option.
The commission described the service as simple, secure and free, encouraging Nigerians to take advantage of the platform instead of relying on third-party agents.
Is downloading the NIN slip through NINAuth free?
Yes. According to NIMC, NIN holders can download their official NIN slips through the NINAuth application without paying any fee.
The commission said the initiative was introduced to eliminate unnecessary difficulties associated with obtaining the document and reduce the need for physical visits to its enrolment centres.
NIMC also emphasised that the downloaded slip is an official document issued by the commission.
Information published on the NINAuth website indicates that the document can be presented at banks, government offices and other institutions that require NIN verification.
Users should ensure they download the genuine application and avoid sharing their personal identification details or biometric information with unauthorised individuals.
