Troops of the Nigerian Army under Sector 3 of the Joint Task Force, Operation Whirl Stroke, have reportedly killed two suspected bandits during a gun battle along the Adankolo–Apata Road in Kogi State.

The operation, which was conducted on Saturday, October 31, 2026, followed intelligence reports about the movement of suspected terrorists around communities in Kabba-Bunu and Lokoja Local Government Areas of the state.

The military said the operation was part of sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks and prevent attacks on vulnerable communities within its area of responsibility.

The Sector 3 spokesman, Captain Ahmad Zubairu, disclosed this in a statement, explaining that the troops launched an intelligence-led ambush along a suspected supply route used by the criminals.

According to him, the soldiers made contact with the suspected bandits during the operation, forcing them to flee after they were overpowered by the troops.
