Zichis Accounts for 24% of NGX Trading Volume as 127.48 Million Shares Change Hands

Zichis emerged as the most actively traded stock on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Tuesday after investors exchanged 127.48 million shares, accounting for approximately 24.3% of the total market volume.

The 127.48 million shares were valued at N2.17 billion, making Zichis the dominant stock by volume during the November 3 trading session.

Investors traded a total of 525.44 million shares worth N22.61 billion across 39,078 deals during the session.

This means almost one in every four shares traded on the NGX during the day was Zichis.

Access Holdings ranked second on the activity table with 42.59 million shares valued at N1.13 billion, significantly below the volume recorded by Zichis.

Chams followed with 25.42 million shares worth N80.19 million, while VFD Group recorded 23.24 million shares valued at N289.94 million.

International Energy Insurance completed the five most actively traded equities with 19.46 million shares worth N33.64 million.

Combined, the five stocks accounted for about 238.19 million shares, representing approximately 45.3% of the entire 525.44 million shares traded during the session.

Despite the high share volume recorded across the market, total trading value declined sharply to N22.61 billion from N47.48 billion in the previous session.

Market volume, however, increased by 1.6% from 517.26 million shares, highlighting the concentration of Tuesday’s activity in relatively lower-value transactions.

The broader equities market closed marginally higher, with the NGX All-Share Index advancing by 0.02% to 254,289.35 from 254,245.21.

Equities market capitalisation also increased to N165.108 trillion.

Zichis’ 127.48 million shares represented by far the largest individual contribution to Tuesday’s market volume, although the trading data provided did not establish the reason for the unusually high activity.
