Iyabo Obasanjo has officially suspended her bid for the Ogun State governorship, marking a significant shift in the political landscape ahead of the next election cycle.
In a statement released to the public, the former presidential adviser and daughter of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo announced that her decision was reached after extensive consultations with political associates, party stakeholders, and supporters across the state.
Obasanjo explained that stepping down from the race was in the best interest of party unity and the broader goal of ensuring a cohesive strategy ahead of the polls. She emphasized the importance of avoiding internal divisions that could weaken the party’s chances at the ballot.

In the same statement, she extended her congratulations to Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Senator Yayi, acknowledging his emergence as a leading contender in the race. Obasanjo also called on her supporters to rally behind Senator Adeola, urging them to remain committed to the shared vision of progress, development, and good governance in the state.
