FCMB Group Appoints Adepeju Adebajo as Independent Non-Executive Director

FCMB Group Plc has announced the appointment of Mrs. Adepeju Adebajo as an Independent Non-Executive Director following regulatory approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The appointment, disclosed in a corporate notice filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited on Friday, is expected to strengthen the Group’s board structure and support its ongoing transformation agenda.

FCMB Group said Adebajo brings more than three decades of professional experience spanning manufacturing, renewable energy, agriculture, consulting and financial services across Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London, alongside an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Adebajo currently serves as Board Chair of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund and Transformation Lead at Etex Group, overseeing operations linked to Nigerite and Emenite Limited.

Her career includes leadership roles across major Nigerian corporates. She previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Lafarge Africa Plc Cement division, CEO of Mouka Limited, CEO of Lumos Nigeria and CEO of UTC Nigeria Plc.

She also worked as Assistant General Manager at United Bank for Africa Plc earlier in her career.

In 2025, Adebajo founded the Climate Governance Initiative Nigeria, an affiliate of the World Economic Forum. She currently serves on the World Economic Forum Council on Climate and Nature Governance for the 2025–2027 term.

FCMB Group stated that the appointment aligns with its broader strategy to deepen governance, enhance board diversity and reinforce long-term institutional growth across the Group.
