UBA Debunks Divorce Rumours About Tony Elumelu

United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has firmly denied viral social media claims suggesting that its Group Chairman, Tony Elumelu, has separated from his wife, describing the reports as entirely false and damaging.

In a statement issued by the bank’s Group Head of Brand, Marketing and Corporate Communication, Alero Ladipo, UBA said the публикации were fabricated with the intent to mislead the public and tarnish the reputation of its chairman.

The bank also disclosed that three individuals—Kingsley Akunemeihe (also known as @Directorkem), Chigozie Success Ihebom, and John Surpruchi Nwanorue (@problemchimky)—have been arrested by law enforcement agencies in connection with the circulation of the false information.

According to the statement, investigations are ongoing and may lead to further arrests and prosecutions of those involved in creating or spreading the defamatory content.

UBA issued a stern warning to all individuals and platforms involved in sharing the claims, directing them to immediately remove the false публикации, halt further dissemination, and preserve all related records, including digital evidence, pending legal proceedings.

The bank emphasized that failure to comply would result in legal action, including lawsuits for defamation, claims for damages, and other remedies under the law.

Reaffirming its position, UBA stated that it remains committed to safeguarding the reputation and privacy of both its brand and its chairman, adding that it will pursue all necessary civil and criminal actions to ensure accountability for those responsible.
