Activist Aisha Yesufu has offered reasons why she would not be campaigning around the country with the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Party (NDC), Peter Obi, like she did for the 2023 poll.
The Eagle Online recalls that she was a constant face at Obi’s campaigns as the candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 polls.
Yesufu, in a video on her X handle, said her role in the 2027 election would be different, with greater focus on organising voters, protecting their votes, and building structures at polling units.
She said her involvement in the 2023 campaign was aimed at helping Nigerians understand that Obi was not a candidate for any particular ethnic or religious group, but for Nigerians.
She said her priority ahead of the 2027 elections was to ensure that supporters who intend to vote for Obi are mobilised and their votes protected.
The activist said supporters should form networks at polling units ahead of election day so they can coordinate and monitor the voting and collation processes.
She also urged voters to understand how election results are recorded and remain vigilant against errors or manipulation during result entry.
Yesufu said: “Your vote that you voted, it must be entered.
“You must see it manually entered.
“Follow it.
“Escort your vote from your polling unit to the ward collation centre.
“There are so many other things that I am doing.
“I am going to be doing so you might not get out as much as possible to ensure that I’m doing this.”
