The Lagos State environmental enforcement officials have uncovered an illegal, makeshift clinic operating out of a roadside shanty along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, with a patient found receiving treatment at the facility.
The discovery of the illegal clinic was made around Barracks Bus Stop during a multi-agency cleanup enforcement exercise.
The exercise targeted illegal structures and shanties along the major highway.
The operation was conducted by a multi-agency team including the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), also known as KAI, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), and the Lagos State Task Force, under the leadership of LAGESC Corps Marshal, Major Olaniyi O. Cole (rtd.).
Video clips and pictures sighted by The Eagle Online on Friday showed a man named Aminu actively receiving an intravenous (IV) drip within the improvised structure.
The patient was placed in highly unsanitary conditions, effectively receiving treatment right next to a gutter.
He was immediately removed from the hazardous environment for his safety, after which the illegal shanty was demolished.
Following the shutdown, authorities strictly warned residents against using unregistered or unapproved roadside medical practitioners.
They urged the public to protect their health by visiting recognised healthcare centres across the state.
