Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, has mourned veteran actor Olu Jacobs, following the announcement of his death by family members on September 16, 2026.
Obi, in a statement posted on his X handle on Thursday, described Jacobs as a symbol of excellence in the Nigerian creative industry and expressed condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and the wider Nigerian creative community.
He said Jacobs demonstrated the importance of talent, discipline, professionalism and dedication throughout a career spanning several decades in Britain and Nigeria.
Obi said the actor’s death was a reminder that people should make meaningful contributions to society while entrusted with responsibilities.
He prayed for the repose of Jacobs’ soul and for strength for his family, friends, colleagues and the Nigerian creative community.
“May the good Lord grant our father, Olu Jacobs, and all the faithful departed eternal rest. Amen,” he said.
