Fagbemi Assures Investors Of Legal Protection For Business Interests

The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), has assured local and foreign investors that the Nigerian government is strengthening its legal framework to protect their business interests and boost confidence in the country.
Fagbemi gave the assurance on Tuesday at a dinner he hosted for the Nigerian delegation attending the ongoing 2026 International Bar Association Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, according to the statement signed by Kamarudeen Ogundele, Special Adviser to the President on Communication and Publicity in the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, on Wednesday.
The event was attended by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Musa Goronyo; lawyers, diplomats, members of the Nigerian community in Denmark and neighbouring Sweden, as well as their foreign counterparts.
The AGF said President Bola Tinubu’s administration was committed to implementing economic policies and legal reforms capable of creating a more predictable environment for investors and businesses operating in Nigeria.
He said the government was focused on strengthening the rule of law, improving access to justice and modernising the administration of justice.
According to Fagbemi, the administration is also working to strengthen prosecution and law-enforcement institutions, promote respect for human rights and create a legal environment where citizens and investors can have confidence.
“The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to strengthening the rule of law, improving access to justice, modernising the administration of justice, strengthening prosecution and law-enforcement institutions, promoting respect for human rights, and creating a legal environment in which citizens and investors can have confidence,” he said.
Fagbemi urged lawyers and other Nigerians to support the government’s efforts to build a stronger economy and a more effective justice system.
Speaking at the event, Goronyo described the AGF as a courageous leader and urged Nigerians to support Tinubu’s reform agenda.
The Nigerian Ambassador to Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway, Lola Akande, said strong, independent and credible legal institutions were critical to building confidence among citizens, investors and international partners.
“That is why the work we do here matters. It matters to the individual whose rights require protection. It matters to the investor seeking confidence and predictability. It matters to businesses operating across borders,” Akande said.
Also speaking, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Yusuf Ali commended Fagbemi for what he described as legal victories achieved under his leadership and for sustaining the hosting of the gathering since assuming office.
