Insecurity: Army Deploys New Battalion, Artillery Regiment To Kano

The Nigerian Army has deployed a newly established battalion and an artillery regiment to Kano State as part of efforts to strengthen security operations and improve its capacity to respond to emerging threats.

The deployment involves the 24 Battalion in Tudun Wada and the 311 Artillery Regiment in Dambatta, where the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division, Major General Abubakar Sadique Muhammad Wase, conducted an operational assessment visit between October 28 and 29, 2026.

Wase, who also commands Sector 1 of the Joint Task Force, Operation Fansan Yamma, said the newly established formations required collective commitment, resilience and adequate logistical support to achieve their operational objectives.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Division, Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, the Army was working with the Kano State Government to ensure the units attain full operational capability.

“Being fledgling formations, these units require collective resilience and dedication to achieve the desired objectives behind their establishment,” Wase was quoted as saying.

He said the welfare of military personnel and the provision of necessary logistical support remained priorities as the Army worked to make the formations fully operational.

The GOC, accompanied by the Commander of 3 Brigade, Brigadier General Saka Jimoh, also met with local government officials in Dambatta and Tudun Wada during the visit.

He urged residents and host communities to cooperate with the military and support the newly established units, stressing that collaboration between security agencies and local communities was essential to improving safety across the state.

The Army said the establishment of the battalion and artillery regiment formed part of its broader expansion and restructuring initiative aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture and improving operational responsiveness.
