Troops Neutralise 44 Terrorists In Borno, Disrupt IED Attack

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised 44 suspected terrorists and injured 16 others in separate operations across Borno State and the Lake Chad region, the military has said.

The operations, conducted on October 26 and 28, targeted suspected terrorist elements in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno and other locations around Lake Chad.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Acting Military Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East), Captain Mohammed Goni, said troops engaged suspected terrorists at different locations in Kukawa following intelligence reports and surveillance observations.

He said a battle damage assessment indicated that 28 terrorists were killed, while six others sustained injuries.

Goni added that the Maritime Component of the operation, deployed from Naval Base Lake Chad in Baga, carried out offensive operations against terrorist targets in the Lake Chad area on October 28.

According to him, preliminary assessments indicated that eight terrorists were killed, while 10 others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

In a separate operation, an air interdiction mission disrupted a suspected terrorist group preparing to plant improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The military said the operation neutralised eight operatives and destroyed their vehicle, motorcycles and IED materials, preventing them from proceeding with the planned activity.

Goni said the operations reflected sustained military pressure on terrorist networks through intelligence-led joint operations.

He added that Operation Hadin Kai remained committed to degrading terrorist capabilities, restricting their movements and protecting communities across the North-East.

The military urged residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in the region.
