Tinubu To Present 2027 Budget Before Year-End – Minister

President Bola Tinubu will present the 2027 budget to the National Assembly before the end of 2026, Minister of State for Budget, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, has said.

Uzoka-Anite disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

“We are working on the 2027 budget, and our intention is to present it before the end of the year,” the minister said.

Uzoka-Anite also did not specify the date of its presentation to the National Assembly.

Meanwhile, the Budget Office has introduced stricter documentation requirements for ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) seeking personnel cost allocations in the 2027 budget.

In a circular dated September 4, 2026, the Budget Office directed all MDAs to submit their personnel cost proposals alongside copies of their establishment Acts.

The circular, signed by the Director-General of the Budget Office, Tanimu Yakubu, made the documents mandatory for agencies seeking personnel cost provisions following the government’s discovery of some fictitious agencies.

The directive requires the Budget Office to verify agencies’ legal status before allocating funds for their personnel costs.

It also bars agencies not captured on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) or the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) from receiving such provisions in the 2027 budget.
