The Kano State House of Assembly has extended the suspension of the chairmen of Rogo, Bagwai and Bebeji Local Government Areas by another three months over alleged violations of due process and administrative procedures.
The extension also gives the Assembly’s ad hoc committee investigating the allegations an additional three months to conclude its assignment and submit its report.
The initial three-month suspension and investigation period had expired before the latest extension was granted.
In a statement, the Chief Press Secretary to the Assembly, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, said the decision was aimed at allowing the committee to thoroughly examine the petitions against the affected council chairmen.
The statement added that the committee, constituted under the leadership of Speaker Jibril Ismail Falgore, would use the additional period to complete its investigation and submit its findings to the House.
