The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) has congratulated the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, on his 20th coronation anniversary, describing his reign as two decades of dedicated service to Islam, humanity and national development.

The organisation said the Sultan, who ascended the throne in 2006, had demonstrated exemplary leadership through his commitment to religious harmony, peaceful coexistence and national unity.

In a congratulatory statement issued on Sunday, November 1, 2026, and signed by its National President, Alhaji Abdur-Rahman Balogun, MMPN described the milestone as a remarkable testament to the Sultan’s enduring contributions to the Muslim Ummah and Nigeria.

The organisation, which identified the Sultan as its Grand Patron, said his consistent support for Muslim media practitioners had strengthened its commitment to promoting responsible journalism, public enlightenment and peaceful coexistence.

MMPN particularly commended the monarch for using his influence and position to promote dialogue, religious tolerance and mutual respect among Nigerians of different faiths and backgrounds.

It noted that his interventions and messages of unity had remained important in a country grappling with security challenges, religious tensions and other national difficulties.

The statement read in part, “Over the years, His Eminence has used his voice to encourage dialogue, tolerance and mutual respect among Nigerians of different faiths and backgrounds.

“At a time when the country faces difficult moments, those messages have often provided reassurance and reminded us of the things that bind us together.”

The media organisation also acknowledged the Sultan’s recognition of the media as an important instrument for promoting understanding, responsible citizenship and national cohesion.

According to MMPN, the monarch’s encouragement and confidence in Muslim media practitioners have reinforced the need for fairness, professionalism and accountability in the discharge of their journalistic responsibilities.

It added that the Sultan’s 20-year reign had been characterised by dignity, wisdom and an unwavering commitment to serving Islam and humanity.

MMPN said it joined the Muslim Ummah, the Sultanate Council, the people of Sokoto State and Nigerians across the country in celebrating the anniversary.

The organisation prayed Allah to grant the Sultan continued good health, wisdom and strength to sustain his service to Islam, humanity and the country.

It further wished the monarch many more years of impactful leadership and peaceful reign.
