Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Monday appeared at the Kaduna State High Court as proceedings resumed in the ongoing case brought against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission).
The hearing, centered on his bail application, was earlier adjourned and is now scheduled to continue on April 14.
El-Rufai was previously arraigned on a 10-count charge involving allegations of alleged diversion of public assets and money laundering during his tenure as governor. The anti-graft agency maintains that the charges stem from suspected financial misconduct linked to state resources.
In a related development, the former governor has also submitted a petition to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, requesting the reassignment of the presiding judge in his case. In the petition dated April 9, 2026, he urged that the matter be transferred to another judge within the Kaduna judicial division, citing concerns over fairness, alleged bias, and pending complaints against the judge.
He argued that the continued handling of the case by the current judge undermines judicial ethics and public confidence in the trial.
The case remains ongoing at the Federal High Court in Kaduna, where El-Rufai and his co-defendant are standing trial.
