Chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and Secretary of its Board of Trustees, Buba Galadima, has called on Nigerians to be prepared to defend their votes in the 2027 general elections, urging what he described as strong resistance to electoral malpractice.
Galadima made the remarks during a stakeholders’ meeting of the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement held in Abuja on Saturday.
He also hinted that prominent opposition figures, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, are expected to exit the African Democratic Congress (ADC) by Monday to align with a new political platform.
Describing the political climate as tense, Galadima said the process of “rescuing the country” would require sacrifice, strategy, and active civic engagement, including the use of digital platforms to counter opposing narratives.
He urged supporters to remain committed ahead of the elections, saying they must be ready to ensure their mandate is protected at the ballot box.
In a controversial remark, Galadima suggested that voters should be prepared to firmly defend their votes at polling units, a statement that has already sparked reactions across political circles.
He also warned that following the anticipated political realignments, opposition figures would likely face coordinated media and social media criticism.
According to him, supporters of the movement must be ready to respond decisively to any form of political attacks or misinformation targeting their leaders.
Galadima maintained that the opposition must remain united and “ferocious” in defending what he described as credible leadership choices ahead of the 2027 elections.
